“Every child is an artist.
The problem is how to remain an artist
once we grow up.”
“In play, a child always behaves beyond
his average age, above his daily behaviour;
in play, it is as though he were a
head taller than himself.”
Sun Play Therapy is an unregistered alternative provision working closely with Suffolk County Council, schools, and families to provide therapeutic, play-based support for children and young people with SEND and SEMH needs. Our multidisciplinary team includes play therapists, physiotherapists, trauma-informed practitioners, and therapeutic support staff who deliver personalised sessions focused on emotional wellbeing, confidence, communication, regulation, and development through safe and meaningful experiences.
We don’t have one fixed setting — because our sessions happen everywhere children feel safe, comfortable, and ready to grow.
Our multidisciplinary team includes therapeutic practitioners, play therapists, trauma-informed practitioners, physiotherapists and support staff who work collaboratively to provide personalised, child-centred support. Using the Sun Play Therapy curriculum and therapeutic approach, sessions are tailored to each student’s individual emotional, sensory, social and developmental needs to help them feel safe, engaged and able to thrive.
We work closely with schools, social care teams, local authorities and other professionals to provide personalised therapeutic support for children and young people with SEND and SEMH needs.
Our referrals are currently accepted through professional services and local authority pathways.
Our curriculum is built around the S.U.N. Framework — Sense • Uplift • Navigate — a therapeutic, relationship-led approach designed to support the whole child emotionally, socially and developmentally.
Through creative play, sensory exploration, movement, outdoor learning, drama, music and life skills, we provide personalised experiences that help children build confidence, emotional regulation, communication and independence in a safe and nurturing environment.

Safeguarding is not simply a procedure for us — it is at the heart of everything we do. At Sun Play Therapy, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, supported, valued and emotionally secure within our provision.
All practitioners and support workers receive regular safeguarding training and are supported in areas including child protection, online safety, professional boundaries and trauma-informed practice.
We work closely with families, schools and professionals to ensure that each student’s wellbeing, safety and individual needs remain the priority at all times.
